Five Hemera Consumer Graphics Applications Included with HP Digital Cameras and Scanners

Deal builds on existing relationship between the two companies

Hull, Canada, August 12th, 2002 -  Hemera Technologies Inc., a world leader in wholly owned royalty-free digital image content, today announced that five of its consumer graphics applications, Greeting Card Creator, T-Shirt Creator, Business Card Creator, CD Designs Creator and Jigsaw Puzzler, will be included with select HP digital cameras and scanners.

Hemera's consumer graphics applications let users create personalized greeting cards, T-shirt transfers, business cards, CD and CD case labels, and jigsaw puzzles quickly and easily on the computer. Consumers can use their own images, imported from a digital camera or scanner, or one of the templates included to get started.

"Our consumer graphics applications provide consumers with innovative new tools ideally suited for image use," said Arlen Bartsch, Executive Vice-President, Business Development of Hemera Technologies Inc. "We look forward to supporting digital imaging enthusiasts who are looking for creative new ways to use their personal photos on HP's digital imaging products."

Greeting Card Creator was the first Hemera® consumer graphics application to be included on an HP digital camera, the HP Photosmart 120, which started shipping in May. Greeting Card Creator is also included on the HP Photosmart 320, 620 and 720. HP scanners, including the HP 3500, 3530 and 3570, come with one or more of Hemera's consumer graphics applications.

"HP is committed to offering our consumers with products and solutions that make it easy for them to capture and share images," said Roger Funke, marketing manager for scanners, HP Imaging and Printing Group. "We're pleased to be working with Hemera, a leader in the digital imaging space, to include consumer graphics applications with HP digital cameras and scanners, giving consumers more ways to share their personal photos."

Hemera consumer graphics applications had previously only been bundled with HP scanners. However, with the growing popularity of digital cameras, this agreement is a natural progression. Market researcher NPD Techworld says that sales for digital cameras went up 24.5 percent during the first three months of 2002 as compared to the first three months of 2001. More than 1.2 million digital cameras were sold in that time, the company says, as compared with 958,000 during the same period in 2001.
